‘Poets for the Revolution: A Virtual Protest’ is a 30 minute presentation of music and poetry centered in the themes of social justice, civil rights, and the revolution. The concept is an extension of Ashlee Haze's recent video "Alligators" which is a commentary on police brutality. 5 Atlanta based poets will be paired with 3 Atlanta based musicians to produce theatrical poetry performances composed of original collaborative work. This production will consist of two major components- “talking heads” documentary style filming where poets answer the question “What is the role of art in the revolution?” and 4-minute performance segments featuring a single poet and a single musician (either guitar, trumpet, or harmonica).
